Why ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Didn’t Do As Well As Expected
Well, it has been ten days after the release of the long-expected film “The Dark Knight Rises”, by the visionary director Christopher Nolan. It was expected, as stated by our blog in a previous post, that “The Dark Knight Rises” would be able to surpass films such as “The Avengers” and its own prequel, “The Dark Knight”, in box office sales. Sadly, the box office report for the film wasn’t on par with these predictions.
Can “The Dark Knight Rises” Top “The Avengers”?
This year can be referred to as the “Superhero Movie Year”, obviously because of the abundance of superhero films that were released in theaters over the past six and a half months. Flicks in this category such as “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “The Avengers” have dominated the box office, with “The Avengers” grossing a worldwide total of 1.4 billion dollars, making it the top most record-holder, film with the highest grossing opening weekend, and third highest-grossing movie of all time, leaving legends like “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2” and “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King” in the dust (facts provided by Box Office Mojo).
